ABOUT THE MEETING:

"Movement Building"  David Lee, California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) and PreventConnect examines how tools from movement building can support the work to prevent sexual violence and highlights how movement building aligns with public health concepts used in the RPE program. David shares from his experience on how public health prevention efforts to prevent sexual violence align with the pivots from Move to End Violence of being Proactive, being Interconnected, and promoting Social Change. Be sure to check out this blog post for more resources from David on movement building.

ABOUT THE PEWG:

The Prevention Education Working Group (PEWG) is made up of Prevention Coordinators, Trainers, and Community Engagement Specialists from JDI member programs who are experts in primary prevention, current trends of sexual and domestic violence prevention, and community mobilization.  PEWG’s objective is to provide JDI member programs with a forum to share and discuss prevention efforts, prevention resources, awareness raising activities, networking, and any other sexual and domestic violence prevention related items.  Any staff person from a JDI member program interested in the field of sexual and domestic violence prevention is welcome to attend.

Special thanks to our current PEWG planning committee for providing leadership for this group:  Elsabel Rincon from Center for Hope and Healing and Laura Penny from Safe Passage.
